PPOC urges PNP to hunt those behind Gov. Oaminal’s bombing attack
OROQUIETA CITY, Misamis
Occidental--Members of the Misamis Occidental Provincial Peace and Order
Council urged the Philippine National Police to hunt those personalities
possibly behind the bombing attack against Governor Henry Oaminal and his
convoy on Oct. 13 last year.
During the PPOC meeting,
Oroquieta Council Churches President Pastor Nathan Bendoy cited Oaminal’s
leadership have gone far from their expectation with the latter’s prompt and
fair delivery of public services for the people of Misamis Occidental.
“The good Governor Henry Oaminal
has really delivered his 5Ms promise for MisOcc province and that is to make
Misamisnon Magpuyong Malinawon, Malambuon ug Malipayon,” he said.
“Yet despite all that he could
have done, there are still few people with no motif who are not happy and
satisfied and to prove that as we observed and we know that they have tried to
assassinate the governor last October 15, 2023,” he added.
Pastor Bendoy said the religious
sector in the province is also keeping an eye on Oaminal’s safety.
“We are really closely monitoring
the update of the case and our prayer is that this case and terrorist act that
we strongly condemn attempting the life of our Governor will finally be over
and our appeal to our PNP Provincial Director Col. Dwight Monato and even to
our PNP Regional Officials to put an end to this case and let this case have
its final distinguish because our governor deserves protection and justice,” he
stressed.
For his part, Ozamiz Fil-Chinese
Chamber of Commerce, Vice President John Kerwin See asked authorities to look
closely at security threats in the province.
“It is not good for business,
it’s not good for tourism and whatever activities in the province especially as
in the business community and private sectors, we see nga ang atong Governor
during his time as Governor and Congressman he made implemental and exponential
changes to our province and district,” he said.
Meanwhile, Schools Division
Superintendent in the Division of Misamis Occidental, Renaldo Manuel Jr. said
the education sector in the province is fully backing any endeavor that would
promote harmony and prosperity as well as advocating peacefulness within communities.
“Although the recent bombing
incidents targeting our Governor Henry Oaminal have shaken the peace and order
in our province,” he said.
“Fortunately, no one was injured
and we are thankful to our almighty father for that. As the responsibility for
the crime remains unidentified, we empathize with the collective desire of
Misamisnons for a swift resolution to such acts of violence,” he added.
Manuel further noted that through
unity, understanding, and commitment to peace, “we can overcome challenges.”(SN/PGMO)
